Dr. V Nandagopal

Dr. V Nandagopal, based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is a Consultant Pulmonologist with over a decade of experience in his profession. He is available for consultation by appointment at the Karthick Polyclinic from Monday to Friday and at the GKNM Hospital thrice a week.

In addition to the MBBS and MD (Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disorders) degrees, Dr. Nandagopal has obtained further specialised training and certification in his field. He has been trained in various skills needed in respiratory and critical care medicine such as spirometry, fibre optic bronchoscopy and allied procedures, ventilatory management and critical care management. His primary focus is into the areas of interventional pulmonology and obstructive airway diseases. He is familiar with the applicable and prevalent regulatory guidelines such as the Schedule Y, FDA norms (US), Indian Good Clinical Practice and other statutory requirements set by the Indian Council of Medical Research. Dr. Nandagopal is deeply entrenched into clinical research having conducted numerous Phase III and IV trials over the years.

Dr. Nandagopal initially worked as Junior Medical Officer at the SKS Hospital, Salem, in 1996-97, before he moved as Assistant Civil Surgeon, to the Primary Health Centre at O'Valley (1997-98) and Chennimalai (1998-2000). He served at the Madras Medical College from 2000-03 as Post-Graduate Assistant Civil Surgeon during the MD programme. He also worked with the same designation at the Primary Health Centre in Nambiyur. His next stint was as Assistant Civil Surgeon/Medical Officer (In-Charge) at the Government Taluk Headquarters Hospital from 2003-05. He spent the next three years from 2007 to 2010 as Assistant Professor at the PSG Hospital, Coimbatore. Simultaneously, since 2005, he was appointed as Consultant Pulmonologist at the GKNM Hospital in Coimbatore, where he has been till date. He is also a visiting Consultant Pulmonologist at the Aarthi Hospital, Aravindan Nursing Home, SS Kulam, (Coimbatore), Arvi Hospital, (Udumalpet), Coimbatore Kidney Centre, RA Hospital and the VGM Hospital in Coimbatore.

Dr. Nandagopal is a regular attendee at conferences and meets connected to his profession, and is a member of many professional associations. He has contributed towards community awareness in the form of patient education programmes on radio and television. Besides being fluent in English and Tamil, he is also conversant in Telugu and Hindi.
